Electrical Engineer/Technologist, Distribution and/or Network

Job Description

The successful candidates will supplement our team of experienced engineers and technologists and will be responsible for the design of overhead and underground electrical distribution and/or secondary network system infrastructure.

The Electrical Engineer/Technologist is responsible for providing cost estimates, designs and project management for a diverse range of underground and overhead electrical distribution and/or secondary network system projects.

Reporting to the Team Lead, Distribution Design, the successful candidates will be responsible for communicating directly with clients and customers to establish service requirements and provide practical and sound design solutions and alternatives that meet client needs. You will work with landowners, customers, and other client departments to ensure that the projects are effectively coordinated and executed. You will ensure that facilities are designed in a safe, cost-effective, and timely manner and meeting all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the accuracy, quality and constructability of designs, calculations and estimates for

distribution and/or network projects

• Coordinate with customers, municipal authorities, other utilities, and various project stakeholders

• Attend client meetings and site inspections as required

• Develop project estimates, construction scope descriptions and material take-offs

• Effectively manage your work

• Respond to RFIs and other client enquiries

Qualifications

• APEGA Registered EIT, P.Eng, or P.L.(Eng.), or ASET Registered C.E.T. preferred

• Intermediate and senior level positions require demonstrated technical proficiency in the electric utility environment, including applied knowledge of codes, regulations and distribution standards, policies, and procedures

• Experience providing designs and cost estimations for distribution projects

• Effective Interpersonal Skills, including strong written and verbal communication skills in English are

mandatory

• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving and analytical skills

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and as part of a cohesive team

• Unwavering commitment to safety and ethical practices

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred), or Electrical Engineering

Technologist Diploma (or equivalent)

• Applicants with varying levels of experience are desired
